Program fees for the 2024 Intensive Ottoman and Turkish Summer School are as follows:

  • Tuition: $5,000
  • Accommodation: Everyone accepted to the program will be responsible for arranging their own accommodation in Cunda or Ayval?k, as this is likely to be cheaper. (The school building is in Cunda, but Ayval?k is about 15 minutes away by dolmu? and 20 minutes by boat).

Please note that air fare and food expenses are not included in the fees.

Payments must be in USD and sent by wire to the Foundation’s bank in Turkey. Accepted students will receive detailed instructions on paying program fees.

The Intensive Ottoman and Turkish Summer School has been approved by the US Department of Education, Center for International Education, Title 6 of Higher Education so US citizens can apply for Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) summer scholarships.

Students may also apply to various other sources (The Institute of Turkish Studies, Mellon Foundation, etc.) through their departments or centres of study.

There are a number of partial scholarships administered through the Intensive Ottoman and Turkish Summer School. These funds are available only to those without recourse to other sources of financial assistance such as FLAS. Some funds have restrictions (e.g., restricted to non-Turkish citizens). These scholarships are awarded by merit, and those interested in being considered can indicate this in the application form. Please note that all recipients of scholarships administered through the Intensive Ottoman and Turkish Summer School will be expected to make a significant contribution toward their fees.
